Take delivery of 100th vehicle - Dave Ibbotson

In
August 2004, Sheffield removals and storage company -
SBS celebrated their 21st Birthday with a party and firework
display at their new Sheffield premises. Now barely eight
months later, The company has reached another milestone
with the arrival of its 100th fleet vehicle.
Vehicle
100 - a Volvo FH12 tractor unit, will be driven by one
of the company's first employees Dave Ibbotson, who has
been part of SBS since its inception all those years ago.
Dave
Ibbotson or "Ibbo" as he is known throughout the firm
has been a feature of SBS since its launch. Best friend
of Jonathan, he was the ideal person to call upon when
Jonathan needed someone to help him in his new venture.
Moving
on from removals, Ibbo took his Class 1 drivers licence
and began driving HGVs for SBS. Undertaking a variety
of duties he has now become 'trainee mechanical engineer'
which sees him becoming responsible for monitoring the
servicing and maintenance of the entire fleet.
Away
from SBS his passion is motorbikes, race bikes in particular…
a passion that has been assisted by SBS through kind sponsorship
and help with transportation.
Ibbo
has been riding offroad since the age of 14 and began
competitive racing in 1988 with his first race being
at
Mallory Park, and in 1989 won the Singles
Championship.
He
is member of the following race clubs: New
Era, Derby Phoenix, Darley Moor, and EMRA. And trophies
include:
1 Club Championship Retford & District Champion 1989
(Honda)
Gratham Pegasus (Spondon Rotax)
Forgotten Era (Pre 1987 bikes) 1991 (Spondon Rotax)
Following
a accident in 1992 the bikes
were
given up for a few years, until the bug returned and Ibbo
tried his hand at 4 Stroke Motocross in 1997 racing for
the SBS Motocross team riding CCMs and Husabergs. Followingon
from this he went onto Supermoto which is Motocross on
a race track.
After
a few years off there was a return to his first love of
racing and Ibbo is back doing what he does best, gaining
4th place in the 2004 Derby Phoenix 250 championship.
So
after driving HGV Lorries all day
itisthe
bike that becomes king and the
thrill of the racetrack."I enjoy my work immensely

of driving vehicle 100" explains Ibbo"I have come
a long way with the company, and its seems
hard to believethat we have celebrated our 21st birthday…
when its seems only yesterday that we
were starting off" he added.
"Once
the week is over, its
on with the racing
leathers and onto the track, where I can
relax and indulge in the most thrilling of sports"
he continued.
