SBS Ltd commenced trading on 1st August 1983. It was originally an antique furniture transportation company. However, due to the quality of the service provided requests soon began for household removals. The company owner Jonathan Bramwell soon realised that he could not do everything himself. He introduced an incentive scheme for staff which encouraged them to be extremely conscientious and customer friendly. This resulted in more business for the company and a growing reputation for quality.

In 1990 SBS moved to a new premises with room for a 200 container warehouse to store furniture storage. There was also extra parking for the 7 strong fleet. From 1990 increased growth of the business meant that two more warehouses were rented in the Lower Don Valley, Sheffield. Continued expansion occurred between 1990 and 1996 when the company moved to its premises on Claywheels Lane. These facilities included a 750 container storage facility, a designated storage area for local health authorities, a self storage section, full fleet and customer parking, paper recycling trailers, full security and a 24 hour alarm system.

In September 2003 SBS relocated to its new premises on Green Lane, Ecclesfield. These new premises offer 68,000 sq. ft. and can store containers up to 5 high. There is also additional commercial storage space with capability of storing 1,800 standard pallet locations.
